Properties of Molten Basalt

The structure of the basalt melt is rather poorly explored. However, this melt is a rather complex heterogeneous system with various kinds of fluctuations, both structural and chemical. Such unevenness in composition and structure can result in the formation of a large number of non-amorphous formations, the so-called “shots”, in the production of thin basalt fibers.
This work was aimed at optimizing the melting and casting process of basalt melts.
